Basic Knowledge About Lithium Based Batteries

Don’t worry this will be easy and brief. We already discussed battery types in our E-Bike Battery Care Guide  Most of the electric vehicles that you see in the market, from e-scooters and one wheels to cars and commercial vehicles, dominating battery chemical contains Lithium. For micro-mobility devices, Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) is the most common one due to the weight/energy capacity ratio.

18650 Li-Ion battery cells are assembled to create your e-mobility companion’s energy storage. We are also using the same battery chemical and size in Pipegun OriginalPipegun Sixteen, and Joyce’90. This type of battery offer a solid solution of course. However, you still need to be careful to have a long-lasting and safe electric kick-bike.

1. Regular Inspections:

Before you start your ride either to commute or just a fun ride, make sure that you inspect your electric kick bike. While it won’t take more than a few minutes, it’ll ensure a safe ride and prevent any electrical problems that may occur during your ride. Control the sockets, buttons, displays if they are intact or not and make sure there are no exposed wires. With this quick visual inspection, you’ll prevent potential basic electrical issues.

2. Charge Safely:

Charging your e-bike’s battery is a routine task, but it’s crucial to do it safely. While many municipalities and governments, are releasing guideliness to remind the riders to charge their bikes safely. Even there is a dedicated guide page in London Fire Brigade’s website.
All products released by TOZZ bike is subject to regulatory testing before going to the market. Regular end-of-line testing ensures the bike is built according to European, US and UK norms.

Make sure to use the charger provided by the manufacturer, and avoid using damaged cords or adapters. When there is a problem, reach us to receive more information and guidance before trying to solve the problem.  Secondly, be careful and make sure the weather conditions are ok, not very cold or very hot as stated in our Battery Maintenance Guide

Don’t leave your electric kick-bike or e-bike in charge without your control for a long time and overnight. Even there are mechanisms to prevent overcharge. However, due to external factors, these might not perform well and you should always make sure the process is under your control.

Don’t position your e-bike charging location onto your escape route in case of a fire and make sure you charge your e-bike in a well-ventilated area and on a flat, stable surface to prevent accidents.

3. Store Your Battery Properly:

Storing your battery pack while it’s not going to be used for a long time, has the greatest effect on your battery life. Especially in winter most probably you are not going to use your big tire scooter or electric scooter as much as you do during summer. You may find detailed information about this topic in our e-bike winter using guide.

When not in use, store your e-bike in a cool, dry place, and remove the battery. Extreme temperatures can negatively impact the performance and lifespan of lithium-ion batteries. Store the battery away from direct sunlight and never expose it to moisture.

4. Water Resistance:

In TOZZ bike, we design and develop our products to withstand against most of the environmental conditions. Even the electronics and battery pack is water-resistant upto a specific level, they are not waterproof

Do not submerge your e-bike under water or do not ride under heavy rain for a long time. A short period of exposure “might be” manageable but riding in wet conditions, please be cautious to deep puddles and potholes.
